Established in 1977 in Port Macquarie by Jim Pearson Snr, Jim Pearson Transport began when he acquired a small company operating two trucks and serving the hardwood timber and building industries. From that modest start, the business was built on hard work, reliability, and close relationships with regional customers.

Jim Snr already had a long history in transport. He owned Lake Macquarie Freighters in the 1960s and later a livestock transport company in Cootamundra. He was a past president of the Long Distance Road Transport Association, known today as NatRoad and spent many years lobbying government for better roads and a safer industry.

Jim Pearson Jnr joined the company around 1978 and worked alongside his father as the operation grew from a local timber and construction haulier into a broader freight business. Together they expanded the fleet, the customer base and the company’s geographic reach across regional New South Wales and beyond.

By 1998, when Jim Pearson Snr retired, the business had grown to around 30 semi-trailers, 50 staff and four depots. That 21 year foundation of hands on leadership positioned the company for its next chapter.

Since taking the helm, Jim Pearson Jnr has led the company’s expansion into interstate linehaul and large scale logistics. Under his leadership, and that of his team, Jim Pearson Transport now operates from six major depots, runs close to 300 prime movers towing mostly B-doubles and some B-triples, and employs more than 650 people. The company holds long-term contracts with a number of Australia’s leading food retailers and manufacturers, and has built a reputation for safety, consistency, and dependable service.

Today, Jim Pearson Transport remains a family-owned Australian company. Jim Pearson Snr established the foundation; Jim Pearson Jnr has spent nearly five decades turning that foundation into one of the country’s most trusted transport and logistics operators.
